We headed to the 9th Annual Castledermot Threshing and Vintage Day last weekend and it was so much fun. The weather was amazing especially after the bleak summer weather we had. With the sunshine came crowds of locals and lines of vintage cars. There was steam engines, tractor pulling, work horses, vintage cars and tractors, a dog show and barrel racing; it was a huge success. I love the smell and noise of steam engines so the whole day is a big novelty for me. In among all the machinery and vehicles were stalls of vintage tractor parts, bric-a-brac and collectors items. After all that walking around we had to tuck into big bags of chips covered in ketchup. Naturally that wasn't enough food for me so we sat back and relaxed on bales of hay in the autumn air and finished the day off with 99s (even thought they actually cost €2.50 now).
While last weekend was all about vintage, this weekend was all about baking and making homemade jam. I can't wait to share the recipes so keep an eye out for those!
