July Favorites

August is already well under way but I think I can still get away with a July favorites, after all it's never a bad time to share the things you love now is it? July has been about getting into skincare in a big way for the first time in my life. I've started to get quite a few more breakouts in the last number of months than would be normal for my skin. Normally I don't wear makeup on a day to day basis. However, it's hard to feel the confidence to go barefaced when you've got a scattering of angry spots on your face. My usual skin care products seemed to be doing nothing to help so I decided to change it up a little last month. From the No 7 range in Boots I've been using No 7 Beautiful Skin Rapid Spot Rescue and No7 Beautiful Skin Blemish Defence Serum daily. Instead of cleansing lotions which didn't seem to leave my skin feeling clean enough anymore I've started using the much blogged about Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water. Mixing these new products in with stuff I already use seems to be making a difference, so fingers crossed my skin starts to calm down a bit soon. On to makeup , some new additions to my makeup bag are the gorgeous Bobbi Brown Lip Pencil in pink mauve and Perfectly Defined Gel Eyeliner in Chocolate Truffle. These are the first Bobbi Brown products I've used and I love them, price wise their definitely a treat yourself purchase but they are amazing quality. Now I know people have moved on from contouring to strobbing and baking or whatever, but I for one still like a little subtle contouring. I already have much love for Smashbox Contour Sticks, they're super fast and easy to use, you can chuck them in your bag with no spills and no mess. After listening to my sister praise their Contour Kit, I decided to give it a go too. My sister flies through these kits as that's what she does as a job so I was able to use a brand new kit of hers for the picture, so clean, so pretty! Smashbox focuses heavily on photography so the powders are lovely and matte. Also there's a handy little contouring guide beside the mirror if like me your not a contour pro yet. If you've got any great contouring product recommendations let me know as there is literally a sea of them on sale. Lastly and completely unrelated is candles, but who doesn't love candles. My mammy treated me to the most amazing smelling Temerity Jones Candle from Bridies Bar & General Store in Kilkenny. The scent is Wild Rose and Cashmere and it's made from 100% natural soy wax. They're the most amazing smelling candle I think I've ever smelt for a €10, I'll definitely be back to pick up more.

What was your July favorites?
