I was looking forward to going to the Folkster Kilo Sale for ages, I love both shops in Dublin and Kilkenny and a kilo sale sounded like so much fun. As it was in Smithfield and you could queue for tickets at 8 on a Sunday, it seemed to me the best idea would be to go all out and make a weekend of it. I booked a room for me and my bf in the Maldron hotel and arrived on Saturday ready to shop and eat myself silly. I will write a little review on the hotel and more about the kilo sale for those who are interested. Anyway, we refrained from too much shopping until Sunday where I got some serious bargains, but we did not hold back from indulging in delicious food straight away. We had dinner in The Mongolian BBQ where you pick your ingredients from a buffet, add your sauces and spices and they cook your dinner right in front of you on a hot grill. Before heading back to the hotel to escape the cold I stocked up on some girly treats; the new Glamour magazine, macaroons from Cocoa Atelier, and a Fizzbanger bath bomb from lush. Fizzbanger changes color as it fizzes away, turning the water bight yellow and green. It smells incredible; with citrus apple and cinnamon scents, it is infused with petitgrain and ylang ylang which leaves you feeling so relaxed and happy. Not bad for €4.50. It was hard to pick only a few macaroons, but I finally settled on salted caramel (which is amazing), chocolate, raspberry and strawberry. Still a little hungry, although I'm not sure how, we decided to treat ourselves from the hotel desert menu and feasted on hot chocolate brownies and eton mess. I drifted asleep on a cloud of sugar ready to fight for vintage treasures the next day.
