20 000 leagues under the sea

My goal for this year is to see new places, push myself out of my comfort zone and have as many new adventures as I can. To seize the day basically! So far i am sticking with my goal very well I think with adventure no 1 already complete. My first trip of the year was to Lanzarote a Spanish island, it is the easternmost of the Canary Islands, located in the Atlantic Ocean, approximately 125 km off the coast of Africa. Lanzarote is of volcanic origin, the island was created approx 35 million years ago by the Canary hotspot. So that's one new place ticked off my list and so many new experiences. I have so many photos to share that I've decided to divide the pictures up into posts of different adventures to be had in Lanzarote. Never did I think I would have a Camel ride along the side of a volcano, chill out with marine life under the sea and get a sun burn in January, particularly not all in the one week. The island itself seemed a world apart from where I live, I kept subconsciously looking around for some trees and grass!

It's here that I tried out scuba diving for the first time. Scuba diving has to be one of the most surreal, strangest experiences of my life. It is eerily quiet and peaceful down there. There's just so much about it that seems against nature; floating along the sea bed amidst the marine life, breathing under water, not needing to go up for air every few seconds and feeding fish while they nip at your fingers. Fish it would appear are not the least bit camera shy nor do they seem to be particularly bothered or impressed about you hanging out down there!

Seroiusly check out that crazy looking fish in the last pic having the time of his/her little fishy life! It's really one of those experiences you have to try, it's not one that everyone will want to try again but I will be forever glad that I did it. This is one for the bucket list.

Anyone tried out scubadiving, did you enjoy it?
