What I did in Liverpool: Day 1

We arrived in Liverpool after a short flight and bus ride for our sister break to warm sunny weather. We dropped our bags at the hotel reception immediately and began our exploring. My sister being the avid shopper she is made a beeline straight for Liverpool One. After a quick pitstop in the huge Primark it was time for some lunch. We settled on Pizza Express because I love their thin pizza bases. I had the Legggera Pollo ad Astra: chicken, mozzarella, sweet peppers, spices, garlic oil, red onions and a little salad in the middle to keep it light.
After a little mid day nap to tackle the tiredness from getting up at 3 we were fresh as daisies to do some more wandering in the city. The city looked so beautiful and buzzing with people enjoying the sunshine. We strolled along Albert Dock on the banks of the River Mersey where you can visit the Tate Liverpool and the Beatles Story. There is a Mondrian and his studios exhibition on in the Tate Liverpool until 5 October if you are a fan of his work.
Next on the agenda was the Museum of Liverpool, there was so much to look at in this fascinating museum that I actually visited it twice in the 3 days I was here. It's a free of charge and has a diverse mix of exhibitions that really tell you the story of Liverpool and it's people.
There was a fascinating and inspiring exhibition on in the museum, April Ashley: portrait of a lady, about a former Vogue model and actress who was one of the first people in the world to undergo gender reassignment surgery. The exhibition runs until 7 December 2014, so if you're around for it definitely give it a look.
After shopping, a little culture and sunning ourselves, it was high time for desert. So we headed over to T,G.I Friday's in Liverpool One for a sugar hit. I had the Cookie Dough Cheesecake which was just ridiculously tasty and my sister had a serious Rocky Road Sundae. Then it was time to roll into our super comfy hotel beds with stacks of magazines to veg out in front of the TV. BLISS
Have you been to Liverpool? What are your recommendations?
