I didn't invent the rainy day

Almost Famous is my movie equivalent of tea and biscuits, it just makes me feel good!I honestly could not tell you the amount of times I have seen this film and who knows how many more times I'll watch it, not to mention the amount of people I recommend it to. Almost Famous is just one of those films that never loses it's appeal. And why would it, it's got amazing music and clothes, epic one liners like "I didn't invent the rainy day.. I just own the best umbrella", it's funny, honest, sweet and authentic. So authentic that it's hard to believe it was actually made in 2000. It manages to entertain from start to finish without needing horror and violence or constant action and mind blowing graphics. The story it tells accompanied by the absolutely perfect soundtrack of Led Zeppelin, Elton John and The Who to name but a few, is all it needs to make it my favourite film of all time. This is Kate Hudson at her best, it's awash with Post Its and Polaroids AND it's got Philip Seymour Hoffman (check out the alliteration right there, nice!). I know the film by heart and exactly when each song is played, what a party piece to have. I must admit to having high hopes of someday owning a wardrobe identical to Penny Lane's! Here's a little Almost Famous inspiration to start off the weekend and take you back to a very different time...

A.O. Scott sums up the film beautifully in his review for The New York Times; "It's the kind of picture that invites you to go back and savor your favorite moments like choice album cuts". What really surprises me though is that it made such a large loss only making $47,383,689 while it's budget was $60 million. As Ben Fong-Torres utters many times in the film, Crazy...
